Smol but important reminder, 'cause artists seem to forget this important lesson every once in while (or haven't learned it yet).
If you are an artist, and you have an account for social media, you're allowed to do whatever you want with that account (as long as you do things with respect and following the guidelines of the site).
Some users who make NSFW art feel like everybody is looking awkward at them as if they were not people. Some users who like to make childish things feel like nobody takes them seriously. The reality is: that one user who makes a harshful comment in one of your submissions does not represent the whole community, or even the whole world. Yeah, unfortunately we live in a world which prefers watching murder and destruction instead of nudity, but there are people out there, just like you, who love seeing what you make, and want to see what else can you deliver. That's called freedom of expression, and it's not a privilege, but a right.
I can understand that people around you try to stop you from making or watching mature content when you're a minor, and are dependent or influenced by your surroundings, but what about when you're an adult who can think, act and decide by themselves? If you feel like drawing +18 things, do so, if you feel like drawing Nick Jr. things, do so, if you feel like drawing murder or agressiveness, do so. We're not trying to impulse any kind of message (most of times), we're just trying to outer the ideas and feelings that pass through our heads. We are humans, and when we can't speak with words, we do with actions.
Imagine a guy who has ADHD. This guy also thinks constantly about murder and violence, but has never reached any form of expression that allows him to outer those ideas or get help of any kind. Eventually, that guy will get drowned by his thoughts, and may outer them in a disproportionate way, like murdering someone in real life or harming themselves or those around him. Art is a powerful tool, as it usually speaks the "language of the soul". We don't always think with logic, we don't always want realism, we won't always want to deliver a message, we just want to share what happens in our minds, with hopes of finding people who can relate to these thoughts. These kind of connections create emphaty, and emphaty builds communities, which allows for these guys to have a proper space to talk with confidence and ease to those around who are willing to listen.
You're not a bad person for doing taboo things, nor are you bad just because you do the mainstream things. You don't have to prove nothing to anybody. The only person you have to really prove something is to yourself: prove yourself that you're enough, that you're doing what you want and that you're always improving for becoming a better person. We're not perfect, and that's great: our mistakes help us grow, that's a part of getting old.
So, what's gonna be your next project? Let me make ya a suggestion: whatever makes you feel satisfied.
